Internship State of Mind
Being 7 weeks into my summer internship, i feel it is appropriate to reflect on how I feel my experience has been. The internship so far has been everything I hoped it would be. Prior to starting this internship I did have fears that my supervisor would be using me as a sort of "camp counselor" where I would constantly just be managing kids and not getting to learn any of the business side of the organization. My fears were quickly laid to rest. My internship supervisor has tried his best to put me in his shoes. Aside from financials, I have been able to gain a much better understanding of many of the logistic and operational aspects that go into running a youth sports club. I have also gained an even stronger understanding of the importance of marketing. As a small youth sports club, it is paramount that we get our name out to anybody and everybody. For these first couple of weeks, I have spent and continue to spend much of my time delivering club flyers to local businesses as well as providing these businesses with packets in the case they are interested in sponsoring the club. I have enjoyed everything my internship supervisor has given me and I am beyond excited to try and plan and implement a pickleball tournament to help raise some money for the club.
